History

Brisbane and the Gold Coast's last open-air Drive-In motion picture theatre, formerly Beenleigh Drive-In, opened on Sunday 27th October 1974, it is Australia's most modern Drive-In Theatre.

A Double Bill Smash "The Way We Were" & "Living Free" starring Barbara Streisand and Robert Redford was the opening program. In 2000 the Theatre was renamed Yatala Twin Drive-In when the 2nd giant screen was added. The projection box was built on top of the existing building and the new screen was constructed at the rear of Field No. 1

• The area once boasted over 20 drive-in theatres.

• Number of Car Spots Available 575.

• Size of the Big Screen 110ft x 44ft. Screen face recently upgraded for wet weather.

• Over 90 movies screen per year, with the average showing for a 2 week season.

• A record run for the Drive-In was 32 weeks for Crocodile Dundee.

• It sits on a 10-acre site on the Eastern side of the Pacific Motorway.

• Dick Johnson Racing Workshops sits right next door to the Drive-In if you are a Ford V8 motor racing fan.
